He is an anachronism - a tough, soft spoken gentleman...。故事发生在1942年，珍贵的北京猿人头盖骨化石在战乱中失去了踪迹，而日本特务则盯上了参与研究的考古学教授司须和他的女儿司文，汉奸武元收钱办事，很快就寻获了父女两人的下落，然而，正当他准备行动之时，司须因病过世，而司文亦被身份不明人士接走保护了起来。 救了司文的是一位名叫林放的男子，他的真实身份是一名中共地下党员，为的是不让国家文物落入敌寇的手中。日寇下令关闭了城门，而林放决定无论如何也要护送司文安全出城，两方人马展开了体力与智力的较量。最终，林放还是遭到了敌方的逮捕，遭到了残酷的对待，与此同时，美国文化特务亦牵扯了进来，使得司文的境况十分不利。。
