长篇电视剧《海之门》以改革开放以来台州经济社会大发展为参考，以跨世纪的二十年为时段，以三个退伍士兵、两个孪生姐妹等人的艰辛创业，以五任书记的递次交棒，展示了我国改革开放的历史进程，也突出展现了民营企业家在此过程中所做的贡献……。为了庆祝顺利通过考试，图雷恩大学的尼克（达斯汀·米利根 Dustin Milligan 饰）、哥登（Joel David Moore 饰）、贝丝（凯瑟琳·麦克菲 Katharine McPhee 饰）、麦里克（Sinqua Walls 饰）、玛娅（Alyssa Diaz 饰）、萨宾（Donal Logue 饰）等7名学生相约前往同学莎拉（莎拉•派克斯顿 Sara Paxton 饰）的家乡科洛斯比湖度假。风光秀丽、景色宜人，加上东道主的盛情款待，这次旅行充满了欢乐与刺激。但是属于他们的青春孟浪时光并未持续太久，运动员出身的麦里克在汽艇冲浪时遭到不明生物的袭击，失去一条胳膊。这个意外似乎预示了他们接下来的命运。 谁也不会想到，平静的湖水中一条食人鲨正觊觎着这群青年男女……。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
