"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。悲痛欲绝、渴望找到人生意义的艾吉·威格斯（克莱尔·丹尼斯饰），意外与曾被控谋杀的奈尔·贾维斯（马修·瑞斯饰）纠缠不清。但当迷恋逐渐变质，危险也悄然逼近。。
