一对老夫妇在村里过着平静祥和的生活，大儿子住在身边，小儿子在国外工作。两人家里的旧电视坏了，儿子给他们搬来了一台新电视，也给他们的生活带来了变化。儿子们的最终目标是想拆除老人居住的旧房子，盖一栋新房子。而年迈的父母不希望熟悉的事物发生变化，不希望他们的宝贵家园被毁。两代人的斗争将事件推向了最高点。。1963年，在冷战太空竞赛中，美国政府秘密发射了升天号（Ascension）太空飞船，携带着一百名男女老少，完成一项世纪航行：寻找新世界，保存人类生命火种。这段旅程期初一切顺利，但很快就陷入了巨大的危机之……。A mother and a daughter struggle to climb the Swiss Alps while they dig into a past that the mother has spent years suppressing.
