故事发生在抗日战争时期，在河北省的杨各庄，恶霸地主黄世仁为非作歹，鱼肉乡民，简直就是吃人不吐骨头的恶魔。他看中了佃户杨白劳的女儿喜儿，于是想出诡计给杨白劳下套。老人含辛茹苦，忍辱负重，却被逼着还清本利，不然就要签下卖身契拿女儿抵债。在北风呼啸的寒冷除夕夜，家家户户迎新团员之际，可怜的杨白劳喝下了卤水自杀。悲伤的喜儿被抓到黄世仁的家中，遭受惨无人道的凌辱。不甘受辱的喜儿最终从魔窟中逃脱，她躲到山里靠吃娘娘庙的贡果为生，最终因长期缺乏营养而变成了一个传说中的白发仙姑。在万恶的旧社会，人就是如此被逼成了鬼…… 本片为八大样板戏之一，芭蕾舞剧《白毛女》改编的电影。。45 year old Don Valter is a traditional priest who still wears an old fashioned black tunic out of nostalgia.
