"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。艾塔娜三年来第一次回家，兴奋地向大家庭介绍她的妻子和他们收养的幼子，并一起庆祝圣诞节。这座位于西班牙乡村的家庭别墅的模样与她以往的记忆并无差别，但却多了一个罗马尼亚难民纳迪娅，她占用了艾塔娜的卧室、衣服等物品。艾塔娜保守的父母一向对移民心存疑虑，为何却一反常态地热情接待神秘的纳迪娅？在调查了纳迪娅之后，艾塔娜发现自己已经被危险包围。。在繁华都市的某个角落，有一家叫做“时光照相馆”的小店还在照常营业。虽然门庭冷落，但它背后其实由两个具有特殊能力的男人——程小时和陆光经营着。为了完成顾客的委托，陆光和程小时组队配合使用超能力进入照片，然而事情的发展却没能按他们所想的那样……。
