同住在一个院子里的张家和李家，两家因为张家的小儿子与了李家的闺青梅竹马，有在一起的意向，但是碍于情面又不好意思透露自己的内心，两家既像是亲家又是邻居。故事讲述了发生的家庭矛盾和邻里冲突，以及李家倒插门的姑爷姜天意为了自己的创业起伏的奋斗过程，张家张大爷和张大娘与同住在一起的两房儿媳妇之间也不时发生着小的矛盾冲突与妙趣横生的一些笑点，俨然是一部家庭喜剧。。Akerman's Toute une nuit is a collection of vignettes depicting the fancies and dramatic moments of a number of people throughout one summer night.
